Meet Teresa and the Your Dream Business Podcast
I was honoured to be invited as a guest on Teresa’s Your Dream Business Podcast, where we chatted about the realities of marketing, entrepreneurship, and the delicate balance of running a business while raising a family.
Teresa is the powerhouse behind the Your Dream Business Podcast, where she shares valuable insights into business, marketing, and mindset strategies that have helped entrepreneurs build successful online businesses. With over 300 episodes, the podcast features in-depth conversations with some of the biggest names in online marketing, including Amy Porterfield, Jasmine Star, and Denise Duffield Thomas—just to name a few. These interviews provide actionable advice, inspiration, and practical how-to tips to help you grow your business and achieve your dreams.
Navigating the marketing world
As the founder of Caroline Cox Marketing, a boutique agency based in Nottingham, I’ve spent over 20 years in the marketing world. Being part of Teresa’s podcast was an exciting opportunity to share my personal journey, the challenges I’ve overcome, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
In our conversation, we discussed everything from the importance of long-term strategies to embracing personal branding and how I’ve balanced entrepreneurship with family life.
The Myths of Marketing
In our chat, Teresa and I explored what marketing truly is—and what it isn’t. We debunked the myth that marketing is a quick fix for business success, instead focusing on how sustainable growth comes from long-term strategies and consistent effort, not from quick-fix tactics.
I also shared the story of how my marketing journey began and the challenges I faced when launching my own business while raising a young family. It’s been a rollercoaster, but I’ve learned that balancing entrepreneurship with family life doesn’t mean sacrificing one for the other—it’s about having the right mindset and strategy in place.
Personal Branding And Is It Easy?
One of the key topics we discussed was personal branding. This is something I’ve been working hard on, as putting myself and my business in the spotlight has always been a challenge for me. While I’ve always felt comfortable promoting others, embracing my own visibility took time. Over the years, I’ve learned to let go of perfection, embrace my authentic self, and confidently share my journey with the world.
As a mum to three children, including twins, we also touched on how I juggle family life and running a business. Managing a business while being present for my kids is no easy task, but with careful planning and a bit of a tag-team approach with my husband, I’ve found ways to make it work.
Long Term Goals And Marketing Consistency
We also spoke about how the marketing world is constantly evolving. I talked about the importance of staying focused on long-term goals, especially when the pressure to deliver quick results can be overwhelming. In the process, I’ve learned that panic-mode decisions can derail progress, and finding my niche in working with family-run businesses has really helped me steer my growth in the right direction.
This episode is packed with honest insights and takeaways, especially for those juggling business and family life. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, marketer, or business owner, you’ll find value in our discussion. If you enjoyed the conversation, I’d love for you to share the episode on social media.
