Creating a Resource to Inspire Funding and Action

As part of their next phase of development, The Social Action Hub required a promotional brochure to support funding applications and outline their future ambitions. The brochure would serve as a key asset in marketing the charity’s growth proposal, helping to communicate their mission, values, and impact to funders and stakeholders.

Starting with only a logo, our task was to create a brand-led brochure from scratch; one that was both information-rich and visually engaging. The final design needed to strike a delicate balance: packed with essential detail but still inviting and easy to navigate.

Crafting a Visual Identity From Scratch

The only asset provided was a low-resolution JPEG of the logo. We began by carefully recreating it, ensuring it was suitable for both digital and print use. From this, we developed a complete visual identity, using the colours of the hands in the logo to create a warm and inclusive palette.

The design had to reflect the charity’s core values: empowerment, support, and resilience. With no prior design guidelines in place, we built a brand look and feel that felt authentic, accessible and rooted in community. The brochure needed to house a significant amount of content, covering everything from the charity’s values and community services to their strategic goals and funding needs.

To make the information digestible, we used soft, flowing shapes to break up content and create visual breathing space. This not only improved the flow, but made the overall layout feel welcoming and easy to navigate.

Each section was structured to guide the reader naturally through the narrative, ensuring key messages weren’t lost in the detail.

Enhancing Imagery
And Creating Supporting Graphics

Many of the original images provided were low in quality. Using AI tools, we upscaled these to ensure they were suitable for print. We also sourced complementary stock imagery to support the themes of wellbeing, learning and community action. To strengthen the visual identity, we created a series of custom graphics and illustrations. These helped to bring key ideas to life and added warmth and personality to the overall design.

We selected the font UDDigiKyokasho Pro, known for its clean and rounded forms. It’s widely used in educational materials, making it a perfect fit for a charity that focuses on learning, development and support. The typeface brought a professional but approachable feel to the design, supporting the brochure’s dual role as both an informative and persuasive document.

Designing A Brochure
To Engage & Inform

Alongside the final brochure, we delivered all supporting assets – including images, illustrations and graphics – as separate files. This means The Social Action Hub can use them in future campaigns and materials, helping to maintain a consistent visual presence.

This wasn’t just a design project. It was about building a toolkit for the future. One that supports the charity’s ongoing mission to connect people, inspire action, and create lasting change.

At CCM, we create bespoke designs that work hard across both print and digital platforms. From impactful brochures and brand collateral to tailored graphics and illustrations, our work is always grounded in purpose as well as style.
